March 10 – A sign that the broadcast sales of sports rights is shifting away from traditional platform sales to embrace the digital distribution options more fully can be seen from the partnership just announced by MP & Silva with Simplestream.

MP & Silva are one of the leading specialist sales agencies of broadcast sports rights and have teamed up with live streaming and VOD firm Simplestream to provide a digital platform solution for broadcast buyers.

The arrangement will increase the ease of digital platform sales for sports federations, clubs and media owners who via Simplestream can have their content made available across connectedTV, web, tablet and smartphone digital platforms.

Simplestream will support MP & Silva’s Technology Services Ecosystem through the development of the full range of multiplatform video distribution including live streaming, real-time highlights clipping, catch-up, social syndication and subscription management services.

The system also provides the ability to integrate a branded video player into publisher’s websites, as well as white-labeling the Simplestream Media Manager to broadcasters that enables rights-optimisation via social media and search engine optimisation.
