Wuhan Double buys its way into Europe’s player agency business

April 22 – China’s increasingly broad-based ownership positions in sport saw trading company Wuhan Double Co announce it is to spend €39.5million buying a 100% share of Nice International Sports Limited, whose principle business is player agency.

Nice International Sports holds a 46% share of BORG B.V. and plans to spend €18million to increase its shareholding to a controlling 70% of the company.

This will give Wuhan Double will have a controlling share of two subsidiaries of BORG B.V. – Media Base Sports (Spain) and Media Base Sports (UK).

Media Base Sports (MBS), is run by Pere Guardiola, brother and agent of Pep, and has a client list that includes Barcelona stars Andres Iniesta and Luis Suárez.

Wuhan Double’s main business is in the trading of phosphate ores but is also involved in the property business with the leasing, operation and management of student apartments.

In sports it has a 100% owned subsidiary, Desports, a sports marketing agency which built a pathway to its latest acquisition when it signed an agreement with MBS in March 2016.
