July 20 – Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur have announced Korean manufacturer Kumho Tyre as the club’s Official Tyre Partner in a two-year sponsorship that starts with the 2016/17 season.
Kumho Tyre will have brand presence at Spurs home matches and on its digital channels.
Spurs have moved quickly to expand their commercial opportunity in South Korea following a rapid 30% growth in the club’s fanbase in the region as the club’s challenge for Premier League honours has raised its profile. Last May Spurs appointed Infiniss as their Licensing Agent in the region, who in turn appoint licensees for Tottenham Hotspur-branded goods and accessories.
The uptake in South Korean interest in the club was in large part triggered by the signing of Asian Footballer of the Year, Heung-Min Son in 2015. A successful first season at club challenging for the league has communicated through to increased demand for club product. He was on hand for the signing with Kumho.
Kumho is targeting expansion in the UK market and will become presenting partner of the club’s match day player mascot programme and develop a tailored community initiative with the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation.
