U.S. Futsal and NSCAA launch first coach education programme

October 4 – With the Futsal World Cup having just crowned Argentina as champions in Colombia, the speed of growth of the small-sided version of football has been recognised in the US where the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) and U.S. Futsal have teamed up to create the first online Futsal Coaching Course.

“Futsal has taken off across the U.S. with programs and facilities cropping up everywhere. But the resources for quality coach education have not existed,” said Lynn Berling-Manuel, NSCAA CEO.

The NSCAA Level 1 Futsal Course consists of eight Core and five Elective Modules including:

  • History of the game
  • Basic techniques and tactics
  • Rules of the game
  • Benefits Futsal training can offer youth soccer coaches and players
  • Training activities for players
  • Tools on how to start a Futsal team or league

U.S. Futsal (USFF) has been governing the sport of Futsal in the United States since 1981. It governs futsal league play, with leagues designed for beginners as well as premier players of all ages and hosts eight Regional Championships throughout the U.S, culminating with the U.S. Futsal National Championship.

“The game of futsal has been the learning ground for some of the greatest players that have ever stepped on a soccer field,” said Alex Para, President and CEO of U.S. Futsal. “The NSCAA has been educating soccer coaches for years, and through this great partnership, we will work together to educate our coaches on how to use futsal as a way to improve the technical skills of our soccer players.”
