October 14 – Official gaming partner Marathonbet has launched an online Manchester United branded casino, the first live casino for a football club. Players can interact with dealers in real time in a virtual gaming environment that is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Marathonbet, the Official Betting Partner of Manchester United, took over from Bwin in August 2015. Bwin had paid £2.4 million for a three-season deal starting with the 2012-13 season. In March 2015 bwin launched a bwin Manchester United Casino, shortly before it lost its principal partner status with the club to Marathonbet. The new casino replaces the Bwin casino app.
Last night the club launched the online casino at Old Trafford, with playing legends Gary Pallister, Jesper Blomqvist and Andy Cole on hand to support the event.
The Marathonbet casino will offer players (who have to be over 18 years old) live roulette and blackjack while immersed in a Manchester United-themed environment.
Manchester United’s Group Managing Director, Richard Arnold, said: “Our commercial partners play an important role in helping us find new ways to engage with our global following of 659 million fans, new ways in which we can celebrate with them the unique passion for Manchester United. Our global partner Marathonbet has certainly created some great content and experiences for our fans, both online and on matchdays at Old Trafford.
“Today’s announcement is the most exciting moment yet of this great partnership. This will give United fans who like to play casino games the chance to interact among kindred spirits.”
Christian Melin, Marathonbet’s Head of Gaming R&D, emphasised the uniqueness of the casino, saying: “Our aim is to offer an immersive environment where players can enjoy online Live Roulette while having the feel of being part of Manchester United. The club launched a social casino games app with KamaGames in February 2015.
