October 27 – Gianni Infantino’s first task as FIFA president six months ago was to open FIFA’s new museum in Zurich and describe it as “the place where football will be lived and breathed.”

But according to reports in Switzerland, the museum, on which FIFA spent CHF110 million in renovation with a further CHF 30 million invested in the museum itself and which features more than 1,000 exhibits over 3,000 square metres, could be hit by cost-cutting.

The Tages Anzeiger newspaper reported that visitors to the museum have so far lagged way behind expectations and that its director is on the verge of leaving his post.

The paper said that as a result, Infantino was now looking at ways of reducing the museum’s budget.
