Twitter stats: Gunners misfire as Leicester find voice and followers

December 14 – Premier League Twitter activity was up this week across all clubs, to a total of 4,760 tweets compared to 4,290 last week. With three games to market in eight days and the clubs keen to move their Christmas merchandise. the increased level of activity is not surprising.

However, growth in new followers are down to 228,000 across the league from last week’s 234,000.

The clubs that have increased week-on-week growth this week include Leicester with an increased growth of 3,800 followers, Chelsea with 2,000; Man Utd with 1,600, Man City with 1,500 and Tottenham with 1,000.

Surprisingly Arsenal lost momentum this week with a decrease in growth of 6,800 while Liverpool also registered a drop in growth of about 9,000 after several weeks of strong growth.(note Liverpool figure may not be entirely accurate as I made a mistake last week and had to do some back-tracking)

With 330 tweets, Southampton are still tweeting the most with Sunderland and Leicester a close 2nd with 320 tweets.

There was also a lot of activity from Hull with 310 tweets, suggesting they may be coming out of a social media quiet spell.
