February 3 – In a significant break with the past regime of Michel Platini and as promised by his successor Aleksander Ceferin,  UEFA have introduced an open tender process for cities keen to stage its major club finals and have named those interested in hosting in 2019, with formal bidding now under way.

The Olympic Stadium in Baku and Atletico Madrid’s new ground go head-to-head for the 2019 Champions League final.

Seven cities have  entered the race for the 2019 Europa League final: Baku again, plus Hampden Park in Glasgow, Tblisi, Frankfurt, Stuttgart, Seville and Istanbul.

Ten cities have declared interested in hosting the Super Cup and six to stage the women’s Champions League final.

Declarations of interest are not binding and the final proposals will have to be delivered with the bid dossiers by June 6.  Each bidding association will only be entitled to a maximum of one bid per final. The UEFA Executive Committee will then select the successful host associations in September.

This season’s Champions League final is being played at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff and next year, the Olympic Stadium in Kiev.
