UEFA steps in to clean up Bayern’s toilet roll mess at Arsenal

March 8 – Arsenal and Bayern Munich have both been charged by UEFA following the behaviour of their fans in Tuesday’s Champions League last-16 tie at the Emirates.

Bayern have been charged with the throwing of objects after their supporters delayed play by launching rolls of paper onto the pitch in protest at ticket prices.

Arsenal also face charges after a supporter invaded the field during their crushing 5-1 second-leg defeat.

Supporters of the Bundesliga leaders had opened the night protesting against high ticket prices in UEFA’s premier club competition, with banners declaring: “The greed knows no limits”.

UEFA’s disciplinary panel will judge the cases on March 23.

UEFA have also opened a case against Napoli fans for a number of incidents, including throwing objects, after they were beaten 3-1 by Real Madrid in Tuesday night’s other game and 6-2 on aggregate.
