Mexico gear up for new national team sponsorship with Jeep deal

June 27 – FCA Mexico and the FCA National Dealer Association of Mexico have announced a two-year sponsorship of Mexico’s National Soccer team which will see the Jeep brand providing the official vehicles for the Mexican national team.

FCA, producer of the Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep®, Ram, FIAT and Alfa Romeo brands is the seventh-largest carmaker in the world and Mexico is a growing market for the company. The sponsorship launch was attended by Decio de María, President of the Mexican FA (FMF); Bruno Cattori, President and CEO of FCA México, and Luis Campuzano, President of the Fiat Chrysler Distributor Advertising Society.

Decio de María said: “We are making a strategic alliance to enter the family of the National Team and to build a long history of a company that has a long history with Mexicans.

“Chrysler and its associated companies have been in our country for many years, I remember very well the first car that was in my house was a Chrysler and successively my father always changed the car to my mother and there was always a Chrysler in my house.”

“Today, we are very pleased that we can shake hands and generate this strategic alliance with Jeep, which is part of this company, grow together in a long trajectory accompanying the National Team.”

The sponsorship, which comes into immediate effect, will cover the ongoing FIFA Confederations Cup, next month’s CONCACAF Gold Cup, the qualifiers for the 2018 FIFA World Cup and the finals tournament itself. Mexico face world champions Germany in the Confederations Cup at the Fisht Olympic Stadium in Sochi on Thursday.
