Guangzhou Evergrande sign co-branded credit card deal with Barca partner SPD Bank

November 2 – Guangzhou Evergrande, the Chinese Super League’s leading club with seven straight league titles, is to launch a co-branded credit card in China with the Shanghai Pudong Development (SPD) Bank.

This is the second credit card the bank has launched with a football club, having tied up a similar deal with Spain’s Barcelona last December.

New card holders of the Guangzhou Evergrande/SPD card will have the choice of one of two images on the card – the team or the club logo. The card will offer various gifts including club merchandise to incentivise take-up as well as a series of discounts with Evergrande partners.

New cardholders will also be given the opportunity to meet club players.

The card comes with a choice of two different images on the front: Evergrande players or the club badge. The two sides also plan to offer various gifts including sportswear and peripheral products for those Evergrande fans who own the credit cards.

At the same time, the SPD Bank is also looking to provide users with discounts or rebates of various types and opportunities to meet Evergrande players.

Guangzhou Evergrande is C CSL from 2011 to 2017, along with two AFC Champions China’s most successful Super League club have won the title for the past seven seasons, including the current season. The club won the AFC Champions League in 2013 and 2015, qualifying for the FIFA Club World Cup where it finished fourth on both occasions.

Business magazine Forbes says Guangzhou Evergrande is the most valuable football team in China, with a value of $282 million and an estimated revenue of $57 million in 2015, though the club made a loss of about $144 million.
