Crowds dip West Ham’s bubble keeps on rising as Spurs hit season low

West Ham bubbles

December 14 – The Premier League’s mid-week fixtures showed a small dip in attendances across the league from the weekend, and a big drop for Spurs who filled only 51.6% of Wembley’s capacity.

West Ham topped the attendance capacity chart for Round 17 with just 79 unfilled seats. Swansea were second with 218 unfilled seats.

The top six clubs all reported attendances over 98% of their stadium capacities.

Southampton showed a 12% drop over the three days with 4,791 seats unfilled on what was a miserable night on the south coast as the Saints lost 4-1 to Leicester City, managed by Claude Puel who they sacked in the summer.

Burnley, who earlier this week confirmed there would be no expansion plans for their Turf Moor stadium until ticket demand increase, still only managed to fill 88% of the ground despite the club moving into Champions League qualification position on Tuesday night.

It is Spurs that continue to confound. Having set a Premier League attendance record in round nine of more than 80,000 at Wembley, the mid-week crowd of 43,000 for the visit of Stoke was almost 20,000 less that their previous lowest crowd for a Premier League fixture this season.

The Insideworldfootball attendance data is calculated from the official stadium capacities and the official reported match day attendances. No allowances are made for seat kills made for media or safety requirements.
