West Ham top table in a stunning week for Premier League attendance

January 26 – Every club in the Premier League recorded more than 96% of their stadia full for Round 24 of the Premier League season, a record attendance capacity for the league as a whole for the past two season.

Of a total of 381,926 seats available, only 5,715 seats were unfilled. The Insideworldfootball stats do not take into account seat restrictions for media or safety reasons – effectively the Premier League was completely sold out last weekend.

Three clubs – West Ham, Brighton and Swansea –  reported over 99% of their stadia full. Just 404 seats were unfilled across the three clubs.

The average capacity attendance across the league was 98.4%, a record for the season, even beating opening day’s 97.67% average.

This weekend the clubs turn their attention to FA Cup matches, the time when lower division clubs attempt giant killing acts and look forward to a cash boost from bigger attendances against the English elite.

Just four Premier League teams have home cup ties. All are offering discounted tickets to fans. Southampton, who were bottom of the attendance capacity table last week, have been offering £12 tickets for their all Premier League clash with Watford. The Saints will be hoping their fans get their hands on the tickets and the Watford players keep their hands off the ball. Watford controversially equalised in the dieing minutes against Saints with a handball goal resulting in a loss of tow point for the Saints and plunging them into the relegation zone.
