March 6 – The latest CIES Football Observatory data report looks at the clubs with the best ratios between shots taken and conceded from inside the box during the current domestic league season.
Porto tops the list of 100 clubs from 31 competitions, followed by Ludogorets and Crvena Zvezda.
Porto attempted 3.79 more shots from their opponents’ box than those conceded from their own box.
Italy’s Napoli(in 4th with a ratio of 2.93) are the leading club from the Big 5 European Leagues, followed by Manchester City (6th – 2.87), PSG (10th – 2.73), Bayern Munich (14th – 2.47) and Real Madrid (23rd – 2.1).
Liverpool ranked above Real Madrid (20th – 2.23), while Barcelona were way down in 39th (i1.82), despite topping the league. The CIES authors say: “This finding suggests that Zidane’s side was particularly unlucky at domestic league level so far this season.”
Scotland’s Celtic’s dominance is once again notable in these stats. They hold ninth position with a ration of 2.76.
