Tipico extends naming rights deal with Austrian Bundesliga

April 4 – The Austrian Bundesliga has announced and extension of their main sponsorship with sports betting company Tipico for at least two years from the summer of 2018.

Under the terms of the deal, the top Austrian league will continue to be known as the Tipico Bundesliga. The partnership began in the summer of 2014 and was due to expire at the end of the 2017/18 season – now it will be extended by two seasons with an additional season as an option.

Bundesliga CEO Christian Ebenbauer said: “We are pleased that we have been able to extend the partnership with our competition sponsor Tipico in the long term. Thus, the premium product of Austrian club football, the highest division, will continue to be called ‘Tipico Bundesliga’. We start with an innovative and proven partner in the new Bundesliga era and look forward to the further common path. ”

Marlon van der Goes, Tipico Chief Commercial Officer added:

“The extension of our cooperation is a mutual commitment. Tipico and the Bundesliga stand for football, for trust and constant development. Our commitment in Austria has been promoting local football since 2014 and we are proud of that. We look forward to the coming seasons and with the league reform on a new chapter in the Tipico Bundesliga. ”

Tipico operates around 1,100 outlets in Germany and Austria and employs over 6,000 people in its retail network. The company is also an official partner of the Bundesliga and 2nd Bundesliga as well as of FC Bayern Munich, Hamburger SV and RB Leipzig.

The Tipico Bundesliga will be increased from ten teams to 12 this summer with the addition of a championship round and Europa League qualification playoffs in order to boost interest in the competition.
