ICC unveils 18 European club giants for pre-season clash across three continents

April 18 – The International Champions Cup has unveiled its fixtures and locations for the 2018 pre-season extravaganza that this year will feature 18 European teams across the US, Singapore and Europe.

Europe and Singapore will host 10 games in total, while the USA section has 18 games on the schedule, European venues include Sweden, Austria, Italy, Switzerland and Spain.

Games will be played in three ‘leagues’ with a champion on each continent, though not every team will play each other in their league. Matches will be played from July 20, soon after the final of the World Cup, and end on August 12.

The big six teams from the Premier League – Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur – will feature with Liverpool facing both Manchester teams in Philadelphia and Michigan on July 25 and 28. All except Arsenal and Chelsea will play in the US.

Manchester United will play five games in the US facing Real Madrid and AC Milan as well as Liverpool in the ICC. They will also play Mexican giants Club America and the San Jose Earthquakes from the MLS as part of their tour but outside the MLS.

Manchester City will play in Chicago, Philadelphia and Miami – against Borussia Dortmund, Liverpool and Bayern Munich – crossing over with their women’s team in Miami who will be competing in the inaugural women’s International Champions Cup against PSG and North Carolina Courage. A fourth women’s team is to be announced.

Real Madrid and Barcelona will also play three times each in the US with the Barca vs Spurs match-up at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena being a highlight.

Arsenal, Atletico Madrid, Chelsea, PSG and Sevilla will compete in both Singapore and Europe.

For the European competition they will be joined by Bayern Munich, Benfica and Internazionale. Bayern and Benfica will also play in the US.
