National duty: Zylofon Cash stump up $10m for Ghana Premier League

May 21 – The Ghana FA has agreed a five-year sponsorship deal with Zylofon Cash to become the headline sponsor of the Ghana Premier League in a deal reportedly worth $2 million a season.

The deal, was described by Nana Appiah Mensah, chief executive officer of Zylofon as a “patriotic and mutually beneficial journey” which will contribute immensely to the development of not just the Ghana Premier League, but also Ghana football.

“Zylofon Media has proudly taken the decision to be the headline sponsor of the Ghana Premier League for the next five years”, Nana Appiah declared

Ghana Football Association President Kwesi Nyantakyi said:  “We are eternally grateful to the Chief Executive Of Zylofon Group, Nana Appiah Mensah and his team for their decision to invest in the Ghana Premier League and Ghana football.”

“I will like to assure you that your decision to come on board as a sponsor is laudable step taken and a very worthy cause you are pursuing.”

“We must all avail ourselves to ensure that the benefits we have ensured for Zylofon Cash are delivered without a hindrance.”

The multi-media entertainment Zylofon Group, which owns Zylofon Cash, an entertainment platform which allows artists to monetise their output, has already acquired Division One side Star Madrid. According to Nana Appiah Mensah the new sponsorship will lift the increasing financial burden on clubs. The deal will also benefit the lower leagues, with some of the cash form the deal reportedly going to off-set their officiating costs.

As part of the sponsorship, Zylofon Group managed musicians will perform at selected stadia to boost excitement and attendance.

The Premier League had been without a headline sponsor since First Capital Plus Bank pulled out of a 5-year sponsorship deal three years ago.
