Brazil wins Instagram World Cup while Ronaldo is the social media player of the tournament

July 18 – Brazil won the World Cup of Social Media with more than 193 million interactions on Instagram, according to data technology specialists Primetag. Across the whole World Cup there were more than 990 million interactions generated by the content on the platform.

Other stats show more 287 million video views on the Instagram, and 6,366 images uploaded by players – 88% of the players in Russia were active on the platform.

While Brazil won the team title, the individual honours were scooped by Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo with more than 110 million interactions, followed by Neymar with more than 97 million.

If Ronaldo were a country he would have ranked fourth in the list behind Brazil, Portugal and France and more than 30 million interactions above Spain.
