Premier League shirt sponsorships top record £313m in value

July 31 – Premier League clubs will generate a combined record £313.6 million for the 2018/19 from shirt sponsorships, according to a Sportingintelligence analysis, the ninth time they have conducted this report.

The figure for the upcoming season is a £31.8 million rise on last year and is up from £100.45 million in 2010/11- the first time the report was conducted.

The Sportingintelligence figures look at the front of short sponsors and do not include the sleeve sponsor branding that clubs were able to sell for the first season in 2017/18.

The ranking shows a huge gap between the sponsorship revenue secured by the Premier League’s top six clubs, and the rest of the league. Five clubs achieve over £45 million for their sponsorship with sixth place Spurs achieving £35 million. Next place West Ham receive £10 million. Half of the Premier League clubs receive £6 million or less for their main sponsorship.

Nine clubs have online betting firms as their shirt sponsor. None of those club sponsorships are in the top six clubs by value.

Sleeve sponsorships offer a significant opportunity for clubs and 16 Premier League teams have sleeve sponsors. The values of sleeve sponsorships similarly vary between clubs from an estimated £10 million a year for Arsenal and the two Manchester clubs, down to £5 million for Liverpool. The rest of the league’s clubs is are generally receiving between £400K and £500k.
