Tebas keeps up ‘financial doping’ pressure saying it damages Spanish football

September 10 – Controversial Spanish league boss Javier Tebas has made another attack on Paris St Germain for breaking the spirit of football law in terms of the money they acquire and spend.

Tebas has been at the forefront of demands for UEFA to tighten up financial fair play and last year described the likes of PSG and Manchester City as being guilty of what he termed “financial doping”.

Now, in a recent radio interview, Tebas charged: “I’m sure they’re rigged, there are reports that prove it, especially for PSG, which has overvalued partnership contracts. It’s not only me who says it. UEFA has also opened a second investigation. I’m waiting to see what happens with PSG.”

Tebas reportedly met PSG’s Qatari chief  Nasser Al-Khelaïfi on the sidelines of last week’s Champions League draw in Monaco and was apparently asked to stop speaking out against the French club.

“There was some tension at our meeting,” said Tebas. “He told me to focus on Spanish football. I replied that if PSG is breaking the rules, I have to talk about it because it is hurting Spanish football which I must defend.”

Tebas has long aimed criticism at the likes of PSG and Manchester City, believing UEFA should consider disqualifying the two clubs, bankrolled by Middle East money, from European competition.

Last month, he took aim at another club Inter Milan who announced their intention to sue Tebas over his claims the club used underhand methods to try and sign Luka Modric from Real Madrid.

Tebas accused Inter Milan of “having no money to buy players but then offer a mountain of money, the source of which I don’t know.”
