Ceferin kills off talk of CL final in New York in 2021

September 13 – UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin has been quick to dismiss suggestions that the Champions League final could be held outside Europe in 2021.

Earlier this week a  leading marketing executive, Jaume Roures, founder and director of media giant Mediapro, said discussions were taking place privately to see whether staging the Champions League final in New York might be feasible.

But Ceferin has immediately rubbished the idea saying it “is currently not being discussed at all.”

“UEFA has no plans to host the Champions League final outside of Europe,” he added categorically. The final of 2019 will be played in Madrid and the 2020 final in Istanbul.
