Makudi confident CAS will overturn FIFA ban

October 12 – Former FIFA executive committee member Worawi Makudi is fighting his ban from the global game at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). The former Thai strongman is seeking to have the ban lifted as Thai FA elections approach.

In May FIFA’s Ethics Committee reduced Makudi’s five-year ban from the game over forgery, falsifying documents, and not cooperating with investigators to just a 3 1/2-year ban and a fine of 10,000 Swiss francs ($10,100).

Makudi’s ban is set to expire in April 2020. He was alleged to have changed the Thai federations statutes before his 2013 re-election campaign.

On Thursday Makudi said that he was “very confident. I didn’t do anything wrong,” according to the AP. In relation to a conviction in a criminal court in Bangkkok, Makudi was also bullish, saying the case had been resolved in his favour. “You know very clearly that the court in Thailand already decided I won the case, OK?” he said.
