April 2 – England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford is being investigated by his club Everton over an alleged fracas in his home city of Sunderland at the weekend.
Video published on social media appears to show the 25-year-old involved in an incident with a member of the public before the player is allegedly dragged away.
Everton have opened an internal investigation into the events saying it had been “made aware of an alleged incident involving one of our players.”
Pickford was reportedly visiting family in Sunderland and was apparently subjected to what was described as “good-natured banter” rather than any criticism of some of his recent mistakes for Everton.
However, at a bar later his fiancee was apparently verbally insulted which prompted the alleged fracas.
