Barcelona launch TikTok channel in time for pre-season in Japan and US

July 23 – Barcelona are the latest European club to launch on the Chinese video-sharing platform TikTok. They join Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Dortmund and Liverpool as the biggest clubs on the social media channel, others are rapidly migrating the same way. LaLiga is also on the platform.

Barcelona say their channel on TikTok will be unveiled in time for the pre-season tours of Japan and the US and will feature behind-the-scenes content of those trips.

Dídac Lee, Barcelona board member responsible for digital, said: “Just as we announced our launch with Roblox (online platform aimed at teens enabling them to create their own video games) we keep moving forward with innovative initiatives which connect to new audiences and bring the club closer to them.

“The launch on TikTok is an important step to reach a younger audience with content format that is consumed every day by millions of people of their mobile devices.”

TikTok’s has more than 150 million users in China, over 500 million worldwide and 6.5 billion monthly video downloads. The company claims its ratio of female to male users is 54 to 46, and that daily usage time is 39 minutes, across an average of eight daily sessions and is now versioned in 75 languages.
