Barca and Sony Music combine for deal focussed on content and events

August 8 – Big brands attract each other. FC Barcelona have signed a two-year collaboration agreement with Sony Music that will focus on the creation of entertainment experiences.

The first fruit of the deal was seen in Miami at the weekend with Sony Music artists performing at the Joan Gamper Trophy game. As part of Barcelona’s US Tour, the Barça Fest Miami at BayFront, an event aimed at fans, also featured Sony Music artists Play-N-Skillz, and Pedró Capó.

Josep Maria Bartomeu, president of Barcelona, said: “We are very proud to be joining forces with Sony Music, one of the biggest entertainment companies in the world. With this initial collaboration agreement we intend to improve the fan experience for our supporters through musical content and innovative audiovisual materials.”

A club statement said that other projects will be unveiled in the coming months that will see Sony artists at Barca events as well as shared content “with participation of artists from the Sony Music label and the club’s players”. The club also has the use of the Sony Music catalogue for content produced by the club’s different channels.
