Germans put Koch forward for place at UEFA’s top table

October 28 – Despite being embroiled in an alleged case of threatening behaviour at home, DFB vice-president Rainer Koch (pictured) has been nominated by his federation to sit on the UEFA executive committee and FIFA council in succession to disgraced former DFB chief Reinhard Grindel.

Koch, who briefly jointly headed the federation following the resignation of Grindel earlier this year,  will stand for election at the UEFA Congress in Amsterdam on March 3 next year.

According to German reports, current DFB boss Fritz Keller has no interest in the position and wants to keep a relatively low profile

“Thanks to his many years of experience and his large network, Rainer Koch is the ideal candidate to represent the interests of German football in international committees,” Keller said in a DFB statement.
