China’s Dongqiudi adds Watford as it pushes deeper into Premier League

November 11 – China-based football social networking and media app Dongqiudi has added Watford to a partner list that includes Manchester City and Crystal Palace, becoming the club’s official media partner in China.

Dongqiudi provides news, league tables, match commentary, and video streams of football worldwide on a platform that  also sells sportswear and related merchandise. Founded in 2013, in 2016 it raised $62 million to expand its activity including an English-language version of its app that it says has had 50 million downloads.

The Watford deal will see Dongqiudi collaborate with Watford on content production, and other interactive experiences, and help build the club’s presence in the country.

No figure has been given for the deal but Dongqiudi paid a reported £1 million per season to be their Crystal Palace’s sleeve sponsor. No figure was released for the e-commerce platform Dongqiudi created with Man City to sell official merchandise.
