Great train robbery: Renard tries to track trophy down

January 6 – French international defender Wendie Renard says the trophy she received for being named in FIFA’s women’s team of the year has gone missing after being left on a train.

The 29-year-old, who came sixth in the running for the 2019 Women’s Ballon d’Or, accidentally left her suitcase on a carriage of the Paris-Lyon service last Thursday.

While station staff managed to retrieve and return her suitcase, Renard discovered that her FIFA The Best trophy, which had been alongside another award, had mysteriously disappeared.

Renard, who has received 118 caps for her national side, took to Twitter to plea for the trophy’s safe return.
