UEFA will refund Euro 2020 ticket buyers if they can’t make 2021 dates

March 19 – UEFA has confirmed that provide full refunds will be paid to fans who bought tickets for Euro 2020 if they are unable to reschedule for next year, saying sticking with the original dates would have been far too dangerous because of Covid-19.

“UEFA would like to reassure existing ticket buyers and hospitality clients that if they cannot attend the tournament in 2021, the face value of their tickets and packages will be refunded in full,” said a statement 48 hours after UEFA postponed the tournament for 12 months.

“Within the next month, further information on the refund process will be communicated to existing ticket buyers via email .”

With the tournament taking place across 12 cities, UEFA explained that the risk of fans criss-crossing Europe in the wake of Covid-19 would have been far too great.

“Proceeding with the tournament this year would have put thousands of fans at risk of infection, as well as placing unnecessary pressure on the national public services of the countries involved in staging matches,” it said.
