eSports pick up the slack for football fans and punters with record numbers reported

April 24 – With esports booming across the board and football’s clubs and league keen to get in on the action, the Football Management game has reported an all-time high of 189.230 users for March, a 43% rise on the previous month.

An average of 102,388 people played across all versions of the management simulation game in March.

With the rise in popularity of esports, so has come a surge of interest from bookmakers and betters.

Tipping service OLBG is reporting “a staggering increase of 943% in traffic to our esports betting tips page, with more people than ever before watching and playing video games at home.

“Steam has been one of the platforms to have experienced the biggest spikes in popularity, with new data showing the average player count at any one time was up 22% in March from the previous three months,” says the tipping service.
