MLS’s St Louis franchise unveils name and logo as it prepare for 2023 debut

August 14 – Major League Soccer’s expansion team in St. Louis will officially be known as St. Louis City Soccer Club. The team has also unveiled its official colours and logo.

St. Louis City will join MLS in 2023 joining Sacramento as the 29th and 30th teams in the league.

St Louis City SC is the only majority female-led ownership group in the MLS and is led by Carolyn Kindle Betz.

“St. Louis City SC is a reflection of the STLMade movement that is at the heart of everything we do, and truly represents our region’s diverse and optimistic spirit,” said Kindle Betz. “Our desire from day one has been to be bigger than soccer and to become part of the fabric of St. Louis and a symbol of our future. This is a significant step forward for our club – and our region.”

The club’s logo was selected from more than 6,000 fan submissions and features four primary colors are City Red, River Blue, Energy Yellow and Arch Steel Gray, which represent a nod to the city’s official flag. The logo also pays tribute to the city’s Gateway Arch as well as the meeting of the Mississippi and Missouri rivers.
