Atalanta trade up with Plus500 taking over shirt sponsorship

August 19 – Serie A’s Atalanta, whose fairy tale journey to the quarter finals of the Champions League was ended in the dieing minutes by PSG, has found consolation with a new main club sponsor.

Online trading platform Plus500 will take over the club’s shirt sponsorship in a three-year deal, replacing chemicals and plastics company RadiciGroup. The deal starts with the new season in September, no value has been announced.

“This partnership, alongside our existing sponsorship agreements, adds to the fantastic strength of our sponsorship programmes globally. It also strengthens our presence in Italy, an important market with good growth potential, and supports the international brand recognition of Plus500 and our ability to increase customer base globally,” said David Zruia, chief executive of Plus500.

The sponsorship is Plus500’s fourth with a European top tier club. The main sponsor of LaLiga’s Atletico Madrid, it has also added Switzerland’s BSC Young Boys and Poland’s Legia Warsaw top its portfolio.

Luca Percassi, Atalanta’s chief executive, said: “It is a great satisfaction for us to be able to collaborate with such a prestigious brand that will undoubtedly and significantly contribute to the club’s growth. It is also a source of pride for us that Plus500, to help develop and strengthen its brand in Italy, has decided to forge this partnership with Atalanta.”
