Van Bronckhorst leaves CSL giants Guangzhou R&F

December 4 – Chinese Super League side Guangzhou R&F have parted company after just one season with head coach Giovanni van Bronckhorst.

Guangzhou announced the Dutchman, who played for Arsenal and Barcelona, was leaving having taken over from Dragan Stojkovic in January, during which time R&F had to battle to avoid relegation.

In a post on Instagram, Van Bronckhorst said the year had turned out very differently from what he had imagined.

“But then again, 2020 has been a difficult year for everyone,” he added. “It’s a shame that I’m leaving the club so soon, but it has been a great experience.

“I would like to thank the club and my team for their trust and the great cooperation and am looking forward to seeing them again in the future under happier circumstances.”
