AC Milan’s Leao sets European record with goal in 6.2 seconds

December 21 – Rafael Leao scored the fastest goal in Serie A history – and across Europe’s top leagues – as AC Milan netted after just six seconds at Sassuolo on Sunday.

Leao wrote his name into the record books as he cut through the opposition defense to score with precisely 6.2 seconds on the clock.

It not only beat the previous record in Italian football (eight seconds) set by Paolo Poggi in 2001 but also became the fastest goal ever scored in Europe’s top five leagues as the Serie A leaders won 2-1.

The move was apparently practised in training, according to Milan coach Stefano Pioli.

“We have four or five possible situations for the kick-off which we alternate,” he said.
