Uzbekistan to host U23 Asian Cup, UAE keeps Futsal Club finals but for 2022

March 18 – Uzbekistan will host the AFC U23 Asian Cup in 2022, the first time the competition has been hosted in the Central Zone.

The finals tournament will be held from September 6 to 25, and for Uzbekistan is replacement for the recently cancelled AFC U-19 Championship Uzbekistan that it was originally scheduled to host this year.

The 2022 tournament had originally been scheduled for China before they withdrew in October last year with the AFC then re-issuing the hosting tender.

The U-23 tournament was held in Thailand last year, being won by South Korea. Qualifiers for the Uzbekistan edition will begin later this year from October 23 – 31, in a centralised format at venues to be decided.

In a series of competition decisions taking into account the Covid pandemic and public health, the AFC executive committee cancelled the AFC Futsal Club Championship UAE 2021. The United Arab Emirates Football Association will remain as host for the AFC Futsal Club Championship in 2022.
The AFC executive committee also unveiled its first AFC Futsal and Beach Soccer Stadium Regulations, which will serve as a reference in the region for the preparation of futsal indoor stadiums and beach soccer arenas.
