Albania refused fan entry for England qualifier in Tirana

March 22 – Albania has had their request for a limited number of spectators at the World Cup qualifier with England this month turned down by the country’s health ministry due to rising daily cases of coronavirus.

The Albanian Football Association had asked, in line with UEFA rules, to be allowed to fill 30% of the seats – or about 6,500 – at the National Arena in Tirana.

Edoardo Reja, Albania’s Italian coach, said that “the match with spectators has a different taste.”

There have been no spectators at football matches in Albania for months, and gatherings of more than 10 people are banned.
