OL to stay on the Ho Chi Minh trail for another 3 years

March 25 – Olympique Lyon have extended their partnership to share best training practices and know-how with the Ho Chi Minh City Football Federation until 2023.

The French club first teamed up with the Vietnamese in 2016 and in a new agreement the cooperation will run through to 2023. The partnership focuses on developing youth talent in the Vietnamese city while building Lyon’s brand abroad.

“This partnership illustrates the desire of Olympique Lyonnais to engage internationally through a different model based on the  construction of  structural and sustainable football projects,” said Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas.

David Gonnet, a new technical director, has been sent by Lyon to manage to project on the ground and coordinate with local staff.

“This programme helps build a more methodical youth training model in Ho Chi Minh City, where young players are trained to become professionals, focusing on both technical development and schooling, building the identity of the football in Ho Chi Minh City,” added the president of the Ho Chi Minh City Football Federation Tran Anh Tu.
