June 14 – Socios.com have had an overwhelming response to the launch of the Argentina national team Fan Token, increasing its all-time record of users on the app by 50% and triggering a decision to launch an extra batch of tokens.
The initial plan was to launch 400,000 Fan Tokens at a fixed price of $2 each. The huge demand caused some technical issues but once fixed an additional second batch of Fan Tokens was launched, with the full batch selling out in a stunning 30 seconds of trading.
Fan Tokens are collectible digital assets that are minted on the Chiliz blockchain. Owners have access to voting rights in polls, VIP rewards, exclusive promotions, AR-enabled features, chat forums, games and competitions via the mobile app Socios.com.
The Fan Tokens and $CHZ – the digital currency that powers the Socios.com platform – are available on South America’s biggest crypto exchange Mercado Bitcoin.
Fan Tokens have generated more than $150 million in revenues in 2021 so far.
Argentina launched their first poll via their fan token giving fans the choose the slogan for the team in the Copa America. Fans will have the chance to create and vote the phrase to be printed both on the airplane that will fly the team to Brazil and on the bus that will drive players and coaching staff around the country.
Pushing Latin American boundaries
Socios.com have targeted South America as a growth area and last week added their first Brazilian club, Atlético Mineiro, to their blockchain-based programme.
Atlético Mineiro join FC Barcelona, Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus, AC Milan, and Atlético Madrid with their $GALO token.
