August 11 – Online bookmaker bwin has unveiled a raft of new football sponsorships for the new season including deals with five German Bundesliga teams as well as the naming rights sponsorship of the Portuguese league.
Bwin ispart of global sports betting and gaming group Entain. Its deals in Germany are all extensions of existing sponsorships for a further three seasons. bwin will continue as the exclusive sports betting partner of Borussia Dortmund, Union Berlin, Cologne, St. Pauli and Dynamo Dresden until the end of 2023/2024.
Alexander Wehrle, Managing Director of FC Cologne, said: “We’re delighted to have bwin as a powerful brand at our side as a betting partner for the next three years. Working together, we’ve already developed exciting features for our fans such as FC Cologne Matchday Tip and betting odds integration on our platforms, and will continue on this successful path together.”
Bwin has embraced football sponsorship and now holds an impressive portfolio of rights. Since July 2019 it has been the ‘Official Sports Betting Partner of the DFB German Football League’. In Spain’s LaLiga, bwin is sponsor of FC Valencia and regional partner of the Spanish teams in the Europa League.
In Portugal bwin, who sponsored the league from 2006–2008, have just finalised their naming rights agreement with Liga Portugal, which will be renamed Liga Bwin next season.
In Greece, bwin is sponsor of Olympiacos Piraeus and also regional partner in the Europa League, while in Belgium bwin is a partner of the Jupiler Pro League.
