LaLiga’s Cadiz sign shirt sponsorship and Fan Token deal with Bitci

September 15 – Following in the footsteps of Valencia, Cadiz FC have become the second La Liga club to strike a crypto partnership as title sponsor, teaming up with Bitci for the current season.

Bitci will become the club’s title sponsor, succeeding Dafabet, the bookmaker that featured on the front of Cádiz CF’s shirts for the last two years, confirming a trend towards cryptocurrency partnerships plugging some of the gaps left by betting sponsors after new Spanish rules restricted their promotional activities.

The terms of the deal with Bitci were not disclosed, but a part of the income will come from the issuance of the club’s own virtual currency in token format, a way for Cadiz to drive fan engagement. The number of tokens that Cádiz will issue via Bitci is still to be released.

It’s not Cadiz’s first step into the crypto. The club previously struck a deal with Jobchain, another crypto platform.

Bitci’s footprint in Spanish football is growing after partnerships with the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) and both Espanyol and Deportivo Alaves. The Turkish company wants to rival socios.com that yesterday announced a deal with LaLiga. Bitci also has deals in Formula 1, basketball and MotoGP.
