August 22 – Ghana’s investigation into their national team’s poor performance at the World Cup has uncovered discrepancies in the numbers of the supporter group that was officially sent to Brazil. Instead of the expected 612 fans, which had official seats on chartered flights, 696 found their way across.
August 21 – Rwanda’s appeal against being thrown out of the African Cup of Nations over a bizarre case of player identity will take place next Wednesday, August 27, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has confirmed.

August 21 – A fire gutted the upper floors of the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) Headquarters, known as the Glass House, in Abuja on Wednesday morning. The cause of the fire is yet to be established, with some suggestions an “electrical fault” may have been to blame.

August 19 – Alhaji Aminu Maigari (pictured) was restored to his position as head of the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) on Monday, after having been impeached, resigning and then having FIFA intervene on his behalf.
August 19 – Revealing instances of match-fixing has become an almost daily occurrence in the media but in Malawi a journalist has been sanctioned for allegedly getting involved in manipulation.
August 18 – Rwanda have been thrown out of the Africa Cup of Nations over a bizarre case of player eligibility. The Confederation of African Football (CAF) took the decision following a protest by Congo who have been re-instated in the qualifying competition for next year’s finals in Morocco.

August 15 – The crisis in Nigerian football descended into farce on Thursday as it became clear the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) president Aminu Maigari (pictured), had officially resigned from his post whilst a letter from FIFA arrived demanding the NFF reinstate him and the Executive Committee which had been in place before the World Cup.

August 14 – Central to recent disputes between leading stakeholders in Nigerian football and the recent FIFA suspension of Nigeria, has been the long-running dispute between Victor Runson Baribote and members of the Nigerian football hierarchy. The Executive Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has now taken action to bring the feud to a close, officially lifting the 15 year ban it had placed on the former Nigeria Professional Football League Chairman.

August 12 – Togo have asked the Confederation of African Football to move their qualifying game against Guinea, scheduled for September 5 or 6 to a location outside of Guinea, due to fears over the Ebola virus.

August 11 – After Ghana’s national humiliation during the World Cup, a Presidential Commission set up to investigate and subsequently take action has run into increasing trouble with FIFA over the perennial issue of government interference in football. FIFA’s second warning about the Commission’s terms of reference has led to a combative response from Commission members.
August 7 – Nigerian football is being made to take more time to regroup following the removal of its president and the threat by FIFA, subsequently lifted, of suspension. A federation Congress scheduled for later this month which would see elections to the board will likely be pushed back a month.
August 7 – Frenchman Patrice Neveu became the third coaching casualty in quick succession in the wake of last weekend’s African Nations Cup qualifiers after Mauritania lost 1-0 at home to Uganda to go out 3-0 on aggregate.
August 6 – Bobby Williamson (pictured) has been named as the new Kenya coach to take over from Adel Amrouche who was fired at the weekend along with his entire staff following the country’s elimination from the 2015 African Cup of Nations qualifiers when they went down 1-0 on aggregate to Lesotho.

August 1 – An outbreak of the deadly Ebola virus in Sierra Leone has led to the Seychelles forfeiting Saturday’s African Nations Cup qualifier rather than risk the disease spreading to the Indian Ocean island. Sierra Leone were due to travel to the Seychelles for a second-leg tie only for the game to be called off on the advice of the host authorities.
July 29 – The Tanzanian Football Federation (TFF) risks losing the 200,000 shilling (£70,000) national team bus it received last year after the bus was attached by the Tanzanian High Court for failure to satisfy a court decree for payment of a debt of 159 shillings (£56,500) to Punchlines Tanzania Limited.
