July 22 – Fenerbahçe chairman Aziz Yıldırım has denied to a court any involvement in the match fixing scandal engulfing Turkish football and has also told the club’s fans that he would be stepping down from his post after the conclusion of the issue.

Anelka drops libel case against French newspaper

July 7- Nicolas Anelka has dropped his claim for €150,000 (£132,000/$211,000) in damages from French sports newspaper L’Equipe, over their reporting of the confrontation the Chelsea striker had with former national team coach Raymond Domenech at the World Cup.
