Facebook adds LaLiga to fast-growing live football rights roster

July 10 – Reports are that Facebook has snapped up its second major European league with a live TV rights deal with LaLiga for the Indian subcontinent.

The broadcast rights, currently with Sony Pictures Network in a four-year deal that cost $32 million in 2014, will move to Facebook to cover the four-season cycle from 2018/19 to 2021/22.

Facebook is moving fast in Asia having last week snapped up rights for live Premier League matches in south-east Asia for an estimated £260 million.

The three-season deal from 2019/20 to 2021/22 will see Facebook broadcast 380 games per season in Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos.

Faacebook is also reportedly in talks over a $10 million deal with Cristiano Ronaldo for an exclusive reality show. Ronaldo has just announced he is moving from Real Madrid to Juventus next season.
