Match-fixing: Four Kenyan club players banned for multiple game fixing in KPL

February 5 – FIFA has banned four Kenyan-based players for their involvement in match-fixing in the latest case of rigging to rock African football.

A number of matches in the 2019 Kenyan Premier League season were manipulated with Ugandan national George Mandela banned for life while three others, Moses Chikati, Festus Okiring and Festo Omukoto, all Kenyans, have been kicked out four years each.

All four played for Kakamega Homeboyz at the time of the offences.

“The formal disciplinary proceedings against the aforementioned individuals stemmed from an investigation into various matches from the Kenyan Premier League in 2019,” a statement from FIFA’s Disciplinary Committee said.

Kenyan media said Mandela was the middle man taking instructions to his Kakamega Homeboyz teammates from the club’s then-coach, who was also Ugandan.
