Belgian top tier league turns to streaming platforms to drive distribution

Jupiler Pro League

March 5 – Belgium’s Jupiler Pro League (JPL) has turned to streaming platforms to expand its international broadcast footprint in a deal brokered by Mediarpro.

The JPL will now be available in France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the UK via Eleven Sport’s recently acquired MyCujoo platform, Aser Venutures’ OneFootball and LIVENow.

The deals evidence the increasing breakthrough of streaming platforms for higher tier football leagues in the international marketplace. While the JPL is not ranked in Europe’s Big 5 leagues, nevertheless Belgium is still the number one FIFA ranked nation internationally.

Guillaume Collard, Managing Director ELEVEN Belgium and Luxembourg and Chief Rights Acquisitions Officer Eleven Sports Group: “As part of our ‘Home of Belgian Football’ project, we want to offer Belgian club football an even greater international image. The agreements with our partners MyCujoo and OneFootball are an integral part of this strategy we share with the Pro League.

“In addition, we want to continue to respond to the evolutions in sports consumption among sports enthusiasts. More digital, more fragmentary. Again, the collaborations with MyCujoo and OneFootball indicate support.”
