June 29 – CSTN, which is re-emerging as a broadcast network in the Caribbean under TV veteran Selby Browne with a series of football deals, has picked up the rights to the Asian Football Confederation’s (AFC) competitions from 2021 to 2024.
The deal includes all major AFC national team and club competitions, including World Cup 2022 and Asian Cup 2023 qualifiers, the Women’s Asian Cup India 2022, the Asian Cup China 2023, as well as the AFC Champions League and AFC Cup starting from the 2021 season.
CSTN aggregates and distributes sports content across pan-Caribbean territories working closely with the major local television channels on the different islands.
CSTN’s distribution network includes both traditional TV channels and growing digital platforms.
Expressing his delight on the reestablishment of its relationship with the AFC, Browne, president of CSTN, who already holds Concacaf’s Nations League and Qatar 2022 qualifiers, said: “The vision for the development of a closer relationship between the 31 Caribbean countries and the 47 member associations of the AFC will prove successful for all nations. We look forward to bringing the AFC competitions ever closer to the football fans in the Caribbean.”
The AFC has been rapidly expanding its broadcast footprint and with this deal covers more than 20 Caribbean islands.
Dato’ Windsor John, the AFC general secretary, said: “Through this partnership, the AFC remains committed towards strengthening the appeal of our competitions to wider audiences. We thank CSTN for their confidence and we take great pride in being able to showcase the best of Asian football to fans in the Caribbean.”
