Concacaf confirms W Qualifiers schedule for Monterrey finals in July

March 18 – The dates of the final rounds of qualifying for the Concacaf W Championship to be held in Monterrey, Mexico, in July, have been confirmed for women’s international match window in April.

Currently 30 of Concacaf’s national women’s teams are competing for the last six slots and to join pre-qualified Canada and the US in the finals.

Two rounds of matches remain in each of the six groups with only the six winners going through to the finals.

The Concacaf W Qualifiers are the first round of 2023 World Cup and Paris 2024 Olympic qualifying.

Currently the standings are tight in the qualifying stage with each of the six groups having two teams equal of six points. Teams play each other once in a format that sees them play twice at home and twice away.

The final eight teams competing in the Concacaf W Championship will be split into two groups of four with the top two qualifying for the semi-finals and in doing so, qualify directly to the 2023 Women’s World Cup. The third placed teams in each group will qualify for an Intercontinental playoff.

The championship winner will also qualify for the 2024 Olympics in Paris.

The tournament’s 16 matches will be split across two stadiums in Monterrey; Estadio Universitario and Estadio BBVA.

The W Championship is part of the new women’s football competition eco-system in Concacaf, designed to stimulate the women’s game with the more competitive matches for the confederations teams. A Women’s Gold Cup will be introduced in 2024 that will also bring in invitational teams from outside the confederation.
