Mbappé says he is going nowhere and never asked for PSG release in January

October 17 – French superstar Kylian Mbappé has denied reports that he wants to leave Paris St Germain during the January transfer window insisting he was “just as shocked as everyone else” over the claims.

Widespread reports in France and Spain last week suggested the 23-year-old forward is pushing to leave the French capital with Real Madrid or Liverpool his preferred destinations.

Mbappe rejected the chance to join Real on a free transfer to sign a new three-year deal with PSG in in the summer.

But recent reports claimed he “feels betrayed” over a number of broken promises from the PSG hierarchy, including over new signings and his own role in the team.

One of Mbappé’s reported demands was for the club to sell Brazilian star Neymar. He was also allegedly promised the addition of a “world-class centreback” to shore up the defence.

But speaking after PSG’s 1-0 win over Marseille on Sunday night, Mbappe insisted there is no truth to the reports.

“I’m very happy. I never asked for my departure in January,” Mbappe told RMC Sport.

“I was just as shocked as everyone else. There are people who may think I’m involved in this, but I’m not involved.”
