PSG probe allegations Galtier made racist comments while at Nice

April 13 – Paris Saint-Germain coach Christopher Galtier (pictured) has denied in “strongest possible terms” claims that he “moaned about having too many black and Muslim players” while in charge of Nice.

Once again PSG have hit the headlines for all the wrong reasons, but this time it is not one of their heralded stars dragging the club’s name through the mud.

In a press release sent to AFP, Galtier’s lawyer Olivier Martin issued a denial of the racism allegations saying the PSG boss “contests with the greatest firmness” the claims, while he “learned with amazement of the insulting and defamatory remarks” alleged in emails of Julier Fournier, the former director of football at Nice. He also said that he will initiate legal proceedings.

PSG have opened their own investigation.

The club’s ultras have demanded Galtier resign if the comments are confirmed. In a statement, the fans said: “We remind everyone that we have always taken a stand against all forms of discrimination, and this fight is a historic cause of our stance.”

It’s not the first time that Galtier had made the news this season. Ahead of a Champions League match with Juventus, Galtier and star striker Kylian Mbappé had laughed off a question from the press pack about why the team travelled in a private jet for a short trip to a game in Nantes at the weekend.

He later apologised, expressing regret for what he called “a joke in bad taste”.
