May 30 – The Sport Integrity Global Alliance (SIGA) has opened applications for its SIGA Youth Council (SYC).
Established in 2020, the SYC aims to engage the youth in SIGA’s sports governance reform agenda, and offer aspiring young leaders a platform to have their voices heard on Sport Integrity issues.
This will be the third cycle of the SIGA Youth Council. The first two gathered young leaders from various continents and backgrounds to design, deliver, and implement a range of projects, initiatives, and events, including a dedicated SIGA Youth Forum in 2021 and 2023, as well as the first ‘SIGA Youth Council Survey: New perceptions on Sport Integrity.
The18-month term for new council members will begin in July 2024. Key positions to fill include appointing Chair, Vice-Chair, and Secretary, and establishing an autonomous Action Plan.
The SIGA Youth Council will host a youth-driven thought-leadership event during Sport Integrity Week 2024, in November.
SYC members will have the opportunity to contribute in areas such as research projects, policy documents, public speaking engagements, event management, social media campaigns, podcasts, stakeholder relationship building, and report of activities.
The application period will close on 21 June 2024. The SIGAYouth Council is designed for aspiring and early career young individuals aged 18-29 who are passionate about Sport Integrity and Good Governance reform. “Ideal candidates should have a keen interest in Sport, a positive and proactive attitude, a creative approach to global problems, and the ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team,” said SIGA.
